Robert (Bob) McNeil - Chairman & CEO

Bob McNeil, BSc (Hons), MSc. F AustlMM, is the  founder of New Guinea Gold .
During 40 years industry experience Mr McNeil has amassed extensive managerial exploration and mining expertise with multinational mining and oil companies, both in Australia, USA and the Asia Pacific region. Early in his career he was directly associated with the Juno and Warrego mine discoveries at Tennant Creek in Australia. He was Regional Exploration Manager for Unocal, based in Tucson, Arizona and gained specific expertise in the search for porphyry copper deposits. In 1980, Mr McNeil transferred to PNG to establish and manage Exxon's PNG mineral exploration group, where he held the position of General Manager from 1980 to 1986.

Mr McNeil is also a non-executive director of Coppermoly Ltd (ASX). He joined the board of New Guinea Gold on May 3, 1996.

 

   
AB Berar - Director

Mr Berar was born in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada. He graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1960 earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree.


Mr Berar began his career in the securities industry in 1969 and has over 34 years experience in the areas of corporate finance, financial services and investments. As Vice-President, Investment Adviser, with RBC Dominion Securities in Vancouver, he specialized in the resource sector, including mining, forestry and oil and gas. Mr. Berar retired from RBC in 2003. He joined the board of New Guinea Gold on March 31, 2005.

 

 

Ces E Iewago - Director

Mr Iewago, BACom, MBA, FAICD, is an accountant by profession whose expertise is in investment Banking and Finance, having served in senior executive roles of major financial institutions in Papua New Guinea ("PNG") over the last decade.


Ces was formerly a Managing Director of Public Officers Superannuation Fund, the largest Superannuation fund in PNG from September 2000 to early 2004. He was previously resident Director and General Manager of Investment Bank, Merrill Lynch in PNG (1997 to 2000), responsible for both its retail and corporate business. He was also Deputy Managing Director of Resources & Investment Finance Limited, PNG's first and only Merchant Bank from 1990 to 1996, responsible for Marketing, Corporate Business and Portfolio Management. He joined the Board of New Guinea Gold on December 5, 2005.

 

 

   
Colin McKenzie - Director
Mr McKenzie is a respected exploration professional with over 30 years experience in major exploration projects and business development in Canada and internationally.  He is President and CEO of Cornerstone Resources Inc. (CGP-V) and previously served as Vice President, Exploration for Skye Resources, which was engaged in development of nickel laterite deposits in Guatemala.  Before joining Skye, he was Director, Exploration for Inco Ltd., where he was in charge of exploration in Latin America as well as responsible for generating new business opportunities from Inco’s portfolio of non-core exploration properties. From 1996 to 2000 he was Vice President, Exploration for Voisey’s Bay Nickel, responsible for managing exploration and resource evaluation of the Voisey’s Bay deposits.  Prior to that he held increasingly senior exploration positions with Rio Algom and BP Mining, where he was credited with the discovery of the Hope Brook gold deposit.  Colin holds B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. degrees in Geology from Dalhousie University.

Micheal Reynolds - Director
Mr. Reynolds is the managing director of Swiss-based Aries Asset Advisors where he specializes in the establishment, organization and marketing of offshore hedge fund products. Prior to founding Aries, Mr. Reynolds was involved extensively in investment banking, corporate finance and institutional sales with Canaccord Capital Inc. During Mr. Reynolds 20 years with Canaccord he served as a key member of the Institutional Equities Group and raised over a billion dollars of capital for emerging companies in the field of life sciences, technology and mining.
 
 
Management
 
Maurice J. Gannon - President

Maurice J. Gannon, BSc, GAICD, FCIS, AFAIM, MAusIMM, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance, and a Business Management Certificate.  He has professional background in earth and environmental sciences and over twenty years experience in business and financial management.

Mr Gannon is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Chartered Secretaries, an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  He is an Executive Director, and Company Secretary of Coppermoly Limited,(ASX) a company that has successfully advanced several copper exploration projects on New Britain Island in Papua New Guinea. 

 

 

 

Betty Anne Loy - Corporate Secretary

Betty Anne Loy is a corporate administrator who resides in Vancouver, Canada. She has been a secretary of various private and public companies.  Ms. Loy has more than twelve years experience in corporate administration of Canadian and US public companies including responsibility for statutory compliance and regulatory filings and has managed all aspects of corporate and shareholder communications.

 
 

 

 

 

Lisa Hartin - CFO

Ms Hartin has approximately 20 years accounting experience, graduating Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Griffith University in 1992.  She is presently Chief Accountant for NGG subsidiary New Guinea Gold Ltd, has been with the NGG group for the past 17 years, and is well acquainted with exploration company accounting, and all aspects of New Guinea Gold’s operations.

 
 
Eric Namaliu - Mine Manager - Mt Sinivit Mine

Mr Namaliu has a degree in Civil Engineering from PNG Unitech, a degree in Engineering Geology from the University of New South Wales (Australia), and a Diploma in Mining and Mineral Engineering, also from the University of New South Wales. He is a certified Mine Manager.


Mr Namaliu held positions with Bougainville Copper from 1979 to 1989 and with Ok Tedi Mining from 1991 to 2006.  At Ok Tedi he held positions of Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Mine Pit Superintendent, Mine Operations Manager and Registered Mine Manager.

 
Luke Sendo - Chief Geologist - Mt Sinivit

Mr Sendo holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and is currently completing a Masters Degree program in Management studies. He has 16 years experience in the mining industry including 13 years experience as an exploration geologist working both in PNG and Indonesia and 3 years experience as senior mine geologist. As a geologist, Mr Sendo has been involved in grass roots exploration work, advanced stage projects and mining. He has extensive experience in gold bearing systems namely epithermal, high sulphidation and porphyry systems. He has also acted as a consultant to the East New Britain Provincial Government  through the Gazelle Restoration Authority (GRA) in regards to the "Vulnerability of East New Britain Province to Natural Hazards" due to Geology. 

 
Dr Salam Malagun - Exploration and Project Manager - Imwauna

Dr Malagun has been a Supervisory Geologist for NGG since 2004, has 25 years post graduate experience and has worked on many of PNG’s major mineral deposits.


Dr Malagun is highly qualified, with a B.Sc. Honours (Geology) from the University of PNG, M.Sc. from James Cook University, Australia, Diploma in Geothermal Energy Technology, Auckland University, New Zealand, and a PhD. in applied Geology from Auckland University, New Zealand.

 
Douglas Ulman - Mine Superintendant - Mt Sinivit

Mr Ulman holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering Degree and has approximately 10 years post graduate experience including three years with New Guinea Gold at the Sinivit Mine
